The best Omaha neighborhoods for trick-or-treating, going by what locals keep recommending, are Field Club, Dundee and Happy Hollow, the Gold Coast and North 38th Street area, Morton Meadows, the Country Club District, Minne Lusa, and Metcalf Park, with Lakeshore near 168th and Q as a calmer west Omaha option. Halloween 2026 falls on Saturday, Oct. 31. Below: what’s known about hours, metro trunk-or-treats with dates, and Omaha Police safety tips, all checked Oct. 6, 2026.
I’m Lacory Gordon, a REALTOR with Revel Realty in Bellevue. Every October, clients who just moved here ask me where people actually take their kids on Halloween. So I went through local news, city calendars, and what Omaha parents say on Reddit. If you’re still planning the rest of the month, my Omaha fall activities guide covers pumpkin patches and haunts.
Key takeaways

- Field Club, Dundee, the Gold Coast and North 38th Street, Morton Meadows, and Minne Lusa are the longtime favorites. Expect crowds.

Which Omaha neighborhoods are best for trick-or-treating?
Field Club
Field Club is the one everybody mentions. WOWT reported that the historic Midtown neighborhood draws hundreds, sometimes thousands, of kids on Halloween night, with Woolworth Avenue as the busiest stretch. On r/Omaha, one parent singled out 33rd Street between Arbor and Oak. The homeowners league president told WOWT to park at Field Club Elementary or the country club and walk in. Source: WOWT.
Dundee and Happy Hollow
Omaha Magazine calls the neighborhood by Memorial Park and Dundee a local trick-or-treat treasure with lamp-lit streets. In a r/Omaha thread from last October, Dundee came up again and again because the houses sit close together, so kids fill bags fast. One resident once counted more than 400 trick-or-treaters.
Gold Coast and North 38th Street
A Gold Coast resident in the same Reddit thread called it the best spot for decorations, with a party feel. Others pointed to North 38th Street between Dodge and Cuming, where neighbors go big and want visitors. In a 2024 thread, a commenter said the Cathedral District stretch of 38th was busy enough in 2023 that a street or two were closed for pedestrian safety.
Morton Meadows, Country Club, and Minne Lusa
Omaha Magazine’s trick-or-treating roundup lists Morton Meadows in Midtown for its walkable streets, and the Country Club District south of Gallagher Park for its curving streets and old-style lamps. Minne Lusa in north Omaha has hosted Trick or Treat on the Boolevard for years, with themed treat stations on the boulevard islands. I haven’t seen 2026 details posted yet.
Metcalf Park and west Omaha picks
Metcalf Park got strong votes on Reddit too. In west Omaha, a Lakeshore resident near 168th and Q described plenty of participation, decorations, and fire pits, but spread out enough that it doesn’t feel crowded. That’s a good fit for toddlers. Residents also mentioned Prairie Lane and Cedarbrook near Standing Bear Lake. Omaha Magazine adds the subdivisions south of 192nd and Pacific.
Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista, Gretna, and Elkhorn
I couldn’t find recent local reporting that ranks subdivisions in these towns, so I won’t guess. One r/Omaha commenter remembered good turnout in Sunrise in Bellevue, northwest of 25th and Cornhusker, a few years back. Otherwise, the city events below are a sure thing, and porch lights on your own street are still the best guide.
What are the 2026 trick-or-treat hours in Omaha?
As of Oct. 6, 2026, no metro city has announced official hours. BooMap’s tracker shows Omaha, Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista, Gretna, and Council Bluffs as not announced. Omaha doesn’t usually set times. As Family Fun in Omaha puts it, most families head out around 6 p.m. and stay out until 8 or 8:30, and families with little ones often start around 5:30. If your city posts hours later this month, follow those.

How do I keep kids safe on Halloween night?
Omaha Police told KMTV 3 News Now that kids are twice as likely to be hit by a driver on Halloween night. Their advice:
- Kids and parents: cross at crosswalks, carry a flashlight, wear bright or reflective clothing, and stay in groups.
- Drivers: stay sober, keep your headlights on, slow down, and watch for kids crossing the street.
- Busy neighborhoods: park on the edge and walk in, like Field Club neighbors suggest.
At our house, we also pick a meeting spot in case anyone gets separated and check the candy at home before anyone digs in.
What makes these neighborhoods great places to live?
What makes a street good for trick-or-treating makes it good to live on: sidewalks, homes close together, and neighbors who show up. Field Club, Dundee, and the Gold Coast are older neighborhoods with mature trees and historic homes. Omaha Magazine notes that Field Club residents have Hanscom Park close by and Midtown Crossing just blocks away. Out west, places like Lakeshore offer newer homes with more room. If you want to see which kind of block fits your family, here’s how I work with buyers.
